Ladies Wot Lunch – A Modern Take on Stumpwork Embroidery

Date: Tuesday 10 September

Time: 10.00am-3.30pm

Location: SFWI Headquarters, 6, Paris, Parklands, Railton Rd. GU2 9JX

An introduction to the very old embroidery technique of Stumpwork, with Tutor Carole Wade.

These ladies have characters all of their own and are fun to create using fabrics, leather, silk, wool, feathers, beads and many other little treasures you may have.  You will learn how to make a ‘slip’ head and apply to the background fabric and how to ‘needle model’ the face. Make hair and other ‘fripperaries’ to decorate.

You will need to be confident in sewing and embroidery by hand.

The tutor will provide a detailed list of what to bring once you have a place and she will also have those little extras to purchase that you may need on the day.

Coffee, tea and biscuits will be provided.
Please bring a packed lunch.
There is accessible parking on site.
