WHAT WE DO

EDUCATION

One of the key aims of the WI is the education of women. Under this banner the Federation offers a variety of training, workshops and interest groups for members.

Training covers a range of courses: some lead to a qualification, e.g. NFWI Demonstrator training and a nationally recognised Food Hygiene Certificate; others are Federation-delivered courses which aim to support WI officers in their roles, e.g. President, Secretary and Treasurer training.

LEARN NEW SKILLS

If members wish to take the opportunity to learn new skills or refine those they already have, then an SFWI Workshop is for them. These workshops do not lead to a qualification but provide an environment where new skills can be acquired in an informal setting and previously acquired ones can be honed. They include baking and preservation, all manner of crafts and IT skills among others.

INTEREST GROUPS

Members are encouraged to set up interest groups which are supported by the Federation. Here a group of like-minded WI members with a passion for a subject e.g. photography, jointly plan visits, speakers and informal get togethers where their common interest is shared.

VIA

VIA is the WI’s digital home for learning, bringing together courses, talks, ideas and inspiration in an accessible, clear and welcoming space for everyone. Your WI membership gives you access to a wide range of learning opportunities, helping you discover new skills, explore interests and continue learning at your own pace. From creative activities and practical skills to talks, workshops and personal development, VIA offers something for everyone, whether you’re looking to try something new, build confidence or simply enjoy learning as part of the WI community.
