Let’s get you hooked on Crochet!
Have you always wanted to learn how to crochet — or to improve your crocheting skills?
Then come along to this workshop being held at SFWI HQ, Guildford, where tutor Meriel Sexton will guide you.
Beginners will learn how to hold the hook and yarn and how to create a chain. You will then be taught the basic crochet stitches; single, double and treble. You will use these stitches to create the base and sides of a small bag. You will then make two “granny squares” which will form the remaining sides of your bag. The top band will incorporate a row of holes which will take the drawstrings.
We also have an intermediate crochet course being run on Wednesday 27 April 2022 if you are feeling confident.
Hopefully you will complete your crocheted item on the day but you will be able take home the materials required to complete your work.
Yarn and hook can be purchased from the tutor at an additional cost of £5.00 to £8.00, depending on hook type selected. Or you may bring your own, if you have this.
Instructions for the different stitches needed for your bag will be provided and the picture shown on the What’s On event page is what you will be creating.
Tea and coffee will be provided, but please bring your own lunch or you can buy something at the nearby Tesco.
Cost of this workshop is £15.00, payable before the day, once your place has been confirmed.
There are 12 places available for Surrey WI members only.
