Come and join our Autumn Federation meeting in Dorking which includes singing, burlesque dancing and inspirational speakers!

The event will be hosted by our Chair, Carol Gartrell.

Speakers:

Amanda Jayne Clark (AJ), Yeoman Warder at the Tower of London. AJ joined the Army in Jan 1992 and retired in March 2017 when she became the second female in history to become a Yeoman Warder at Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress the Tower of London. Her Service in the Armed Forces saw her carry out her Logistical duties in Germany, Romania, Falkland Islands, Kenya, as well as Operational duties in Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. The Yeoman Warders all reside at the Tower of London with their families, where AJ lives with her husband Simon and their two miniature dachshunds, Wellington-Walter and Bess-Lillibet.

In 1996 Nina Barough CBE had the idea to power walk in her bra to raise money for breast cancer. Nina tells how this seed of an idea grew into the Walk the Walk charity (including Moonwalk) that now raises thousands of pounds for breast cancer each year.

Lindsey Barrell has been a WI member for many years. Her alter ego, Miss Cherry Bombe, travels the home counties leading her troupe of burlesque dancers – also WI members aged between 40 and 82 – and raising funds for local worthy causes. She has been described as ‘the best speaker I have ever heard in all my years as a WI member’. Including a performance from The Burlesque Bombshells.

Following a Forest Schools Bursary given by the Surrey Federation, Nell Pink from Cheam WI recently completed her Level 2 Forest School Assistant qualification. She is currently working as a Teaching Assistant in an ASD base primary school putting her forestry skills to good use.

Surrey Serenaders – Surrey Federation’s choir will perform. (Open to members to apply to join.)

PLUS the stall holders are back with a variety of items on sale from 9am.

Tickets cost £16.00 per person. Group tickets are welcome, but please include the name of the person(s) you are making the booking for.

Kindly include details of any special seating requirements. A hearing loop is available at the halls. Headsets obtained on the day from the foyer desk. Subject to availability.

Doors open at 9.00am.
