Bearing in mind the issues concerning our changing climate, the HE committee wish to offer members the opportunities to use whatever produce they may have in their garden, or be able to collect locally, in order that the best use is made of produce grown in our country.

The Autumn provides us with an abundance of apples and other delights, which sadly very often go to waste. But they need not.

We are offering you the opportunity to learn how to use some of these crops and turn them in to products you can store and enjoy later in the year.

On this course we will be juicing apples and then sterilising the juice which will keep in bottles for many months. Some of the juice, along with more apples, will be made in to mincemeat which can be used straight away, or stored in the freezer for a limited time. Other types of mincemeats will be available for you to taste and you will learn how these can be used in a variety of recipes.

You will learn how to dry herbs, so do bring along any you may have.  Dried herbs can be stored and used throughout the year.

And finally, did you know you can make onions into onion powder that can be used in place of fresh onions? You will be shown how this is done, too!

Tickets cost £30.00.

WI members only.
