This show is a good opportunity to promote the WI, show the public what we do and recruit new members from the large number of visitors it attracts.
This year’s theme was Make, Do, Mend. A modern take on the 20th Century National Policy for the rationing of new clothes during World War II. In 2024 we still believe in taking care of our precious resources, reusing materials wherever possible.

WI members support shows by entering the competition classes (some of which the public can enter), and visit, along with the public, to see how their entries fared and admire the quality of craft and other skills on display. WI Advisers are on hand to answer questions about the WI and recruit new members. Thank you if you visited and especially if you took part by entering the 3 public votes.
The Results!
The classes are judged by fully trained, independant judges and their job was particularly hard this year!
We had a whopping 240+ entries to the various classes from 26 different WIs across Surrey & South London. The show schedule offered a wide variety of classes incorporating different ranges of skills. Check out the schedule here. This year the preserve & chutney classes were sponsored and judged by the Gordon Ramsay Academy. A new relationship for the federation which we hope will continue.
Special congratulations to these ladies!

We asked the public to vote for their favourites in the following classes:
Class 1. The Past Reimagined.
YWI Dormansland was the publics choice with their interpretaion of a community garden project. There were so many comments about the pumpkin bread which we think stole the show in this class!
Class 10. Click
Liz Mouland’s image taken at Lizard Penisula in Cornwall at sunset was the favourite here. Not amongst the judge’s top 3.
Liz is a member of YWI Dormansland.
Class 5. Play Time
The public fell in love with Aubrey the sheep in his upcycled wine box!
Crafted by Jayne Harrigan of Stoneleigh Sparrows WI.
