This show is a good opportunity to promote the WI, show the public what we do and recruit new members from the large number of visitors it attracts.
The Show Team
Edenbridge and Oxted show has its own teamof WI members. The team decides on the theme, competition classes, activities, displays and demonstrations which will take place in the marquee. You may find a WI member demonstrating lace-making, for example; special activities for children and you may be able to buy home-made cakes and preserves. The team organises a fund-raising event prior to the show which covers our costs.
WI members support shows by entering the competition classes (some of which the public can enter), and visit, along with the public, to see how their entries fared and admire the quality of craft and other skills on display. WI Advisers are on hand to answer questions about the WI and recruit new members. So if you plan to visit, make sure you head for the WI marquee.

On With The Show
The NFWI has published a very useful booklet for show organisers, judges and exhibitors, On With the Show, which tells you all you need to know about shows and entering competitions. Unfortunately, this isn’t available online at present but your WI’s secretary may have a copy, or contact Ann Thomas by email
