Two science groups cater for the scientifically minded or those with a passing interest in matters scientific. The 3Counties Science Group meets in the west of the county and the East Surrey Group caters for the eastern side.
Meetings are open to partners and friends as well as WI members and you don’t have to be a scientist to find these meetings interesting. Both groups are self-funding and a small charge is made to cover costs. Meetings are promoted on social media and in Surrey WI News with write-ups after the event and may be viewed on the website when details of the next meeting are confirmed at: Interest Group Events
3Counties Science Group
The group is run by a small committee who find high quality speakers across a wide variety of subjects – recent talks have covered Mars exploration, using dogs to detect disease and antibiotic resistance. Meetings are usually held on the third Monday in February, March, April, May, June, September, October and November; the subjects are always interesting and meetings are usually well attended. For more information about forthcoming meetings, please check out the programme for the first half of the coming year on their website or contact them on firstname.lastname@example.org.
East Surrey Science Group
This group meets twice a year in April and September, usually in the White Hart Barn in Godstone under the organisation of Godstone WI.
